Dear Annan,

186

Many thanks for your letter of the 18th December about the adhesion of Bursa to the clau se in the szehange of notes with Shina about the acquisition of real property.

The particular paint made by the wovernor of Burma, in his telegram No. 945 of the 16th December, 1# covered by all of the three formulae proposed in our 163 telegram to Chungking No. 1573 of the 9th December.

Se must certainly await the onte me of these proposals; but as the exclusion of Purse would complicate what is already a difficult enough matter to negotiate, i hope that you will be able to persuade the Government of Burwa when the time cores that it is umecessary for them to contract out of this elause.

i am sending espies of this letter to Costar, Dominions Office; umbold, India Office; Monson, Colonial #ffice; Freser, Board of Trade and Young Treasury.
